First scan results

After a two month intensive digitalization phase, Treventus Mechatronics GmbH delivered the first digital products to Compass-Verlag.

The ZEDHIA project team is now faced with the task to verify quality and completeness of the scans with a software specially adapted for this purpose, and at the same time to categorize them from the point of view of an exact file designation.

Notwithstanding the partly inhomogeneous condition of the Compass volumes, the first digitalization phase resulted in fully automatic scanning over 98% of the materials via ScanRobot. For the remaining part - e.g. folded maps or book covers - the specialists had to resort to flatbed scanners in order to arrive at an impeccable result.

The ZEDHIA project team expressed satisfaction by the first results, both regarding the colour quality of the digitized original pages to be long-time archived, as well as the reduced scale binarized derivatives to be exhibited on-line in the ZEDHIA web portal at a later date.
